2nd SUBIC Open - Final Round

Grandmaster Ghaem Maghami Ehsan of Iranian fame come as the sole leader of the 2nd Subic Open 2009. GM Ghaem Maghami Ehsan, who also won the Mate of the King against Anatoly Karpov this year, confirmed his sole lead after his closest rivals match ended in a draw. As followed online the match between the title pursuider GM Sandipan Chanda against untitled Chinese youngster Xiu Deshun was the real match of the round.

On this game Xiu Deshun slowly built a strong passed black e pawn and the game gone into R+K vs R+B endgame. Sandipan make a weak move on 35.Kf3 enable Xiu to win a pawn. But perhaps due to limited time the game keep going into a rook ending and although a pawn up Xiu could not converted it into victory. This enable a number of seven players tied for second with 6,5 points. Beside Ghaem Maghami Ehsan only Bangladesi GM Rahman Ziaur join the crowded of Chinese, Indians and Vietnamese players on top 10 list.

Indonesian GM Megaranto Susanto finished with 5,5 points while other comrades IM Irwanto Sadikin , IM Tirto and FM Sebastian Simanjuntak struggling in lower list with 4 and 3 points.
