Partai Catur Piala Dunia Megaranto vs Le Quang Liem

Babak pertama Piala Dunia Catur 2011 telah dilalui. Sebanyak 128 pecatur bertanding di sistem gugur yang berlangsung di Khanty-Mansiysk Rusia. Pecatur nasional GM Megaranto berhadapan dengan pecatur kuat dari Vietnam GM Le Quang Liem. DI babak pertama Megaranto tak kuasa menghadapi permainan Le. Di babak kedua Megaranto memegang buah putih dan perjuangannya tetap tidak mempan melawan pembelaan Le dengan pembelaan Sisilia.

Chess World Cup 2011 Susanto Megaranto arrived

2011 Chess World Cup started today with a ceremony. According to many reports, there are only two players technically missed the event, Wang Hao and Vladimir Akopian, due to health problem Their opponents GM Alexander Ivanov and GM Parimarjan Negi qualify automatically for the next round. Ivanov will play the winner of Lysyj – Kobalia, while Negi is expecting an opponent from the match Radjabov – De La Paz.

From Indonesia, Reported by potretcatur.blogspot.com, GM Susanto Megaranto just arrived on site on Friday. Susanto come with his trainer and directly from Yekaterinburg, especially trained for his round one against Vietnam super GM Le Quang Liem. Liem is hundreds point above his South Eastern Asian colleague.

8th Dato Tan Malaysia Open 2011

Travelling to Malaysia - the Trully Asia - for this week 8th Dato Tan Malaysia Open. This chess event is big and crowded by international chess Grandmaster around the region. China, Phillipine, Australia and Vietnam are among the participant's nationalities. From Indonesia, IM Irwanto Sadikin is the highest participant to join the party in Kuala Lumpur. He draw to higher rated GM such as GM Cao Sang, GM Wen Yang and chess author IM Gary Lane among his tourney over there. GM Megaranto Susanto is likely not available now for the coming World Cup is just days from now.

2011 Shenzhen Universiade Chess

The 26th Summer Universiade, aka Summer Games for University Students, is currently going on in Shenzhen with chess as one of the sports included. A total of 88 men and 68 women have been registered for the tournament that started on 15th Aug and the last round will be played on 21st Aug.

Top seed filled by Chinese GM (Li Chao b, Wang Hao, Wang Yue, Ni Hua etc.) and seconded by Armenian nationality. Li Chao close the tournament with 8.5/9 defeating all 7 Grandmasters in a row, thus get the gold medal.  Last round standing  position is :

Hou Yifan Wins again in Women Grand Prix Rostov 2011

Hou Yifan scored another win over Alexandra Kosteniuk in round three FIDE Woman GP Rostov. For this she is now featured as sole leader on the board. World Junior Championship in Chennai:

All boys and girls travel to Chennai, India for a World under 20 chess championship, now on round 3 onward. Top player from Russian GM Matlakov and Sanan Sjugirov made slow start and now only at 2/3, while third seed Grandmaster Ivan Salgado Lopez of Spain, along with Italian Rombaldoni Axel and Polish Grandmaster Piorun Kacper led the field with 3.0 points after as many rounds.
